Team News

The Vikings Soccer Club began in the fall of 1922. They were charter members of all the state and local soccer organizations (California Soccer Association North, San Francisco Soccer Football League (senior group) and the California Youth Soccer Association.
The Vikings have always been on the leading edge of soccer innovation in America.
The Vikings were the first to develop a youth program in 1939 under the leadership of the late Derk Zylker, Sr. Unfortunately, World War II intruded and the program did not get under way again until 1952. One of the main figures in the rebirth of youth soccer in SF was the late Marty Krumm who had played on the USA Olympic Soccer team in 1952.
The Vikings also were the first Club to foster the Under 8 and Under 10 year old program in 1974. After a brief pilot program, the rest of Northern California followed suit and now those two divisions make up the greater part of the Vikings and other clubs programs.
The Vikings Club players have played on the US Olympic Teams, the Pan American teams, the US National teams, and professional teams. In addition, the Vikings have placed more players and coaches on junior and senior associated teams, high schools and universities than any other northern California soccer club.

Team History

SF Vikings is one of the oldest teams in the nation and league. We were first established in 1922. It's a proud team that has rich history in San Francisco and is proud to play in SFSFL 113th season. Best league in the bay area by far!!!

The Viking Club is a non-profit supporter owned club competing at the 4th tier of the U.S. Soccer Federation pyramid. For 2015, our team competes in this semi-professional league. We also have youth teams.

Our mission is to provide top quality football and honor the civic and sporting legacy of San Francisco, while acting in meaningful service to the local community, and offering local youth the opportunity to learn and grow as students of the game & citizens in San Francisco’s unique cultural environment.

We have expanded our coaching staff to include a former professional player and A level coach, Tommy Alioto as well as former MLS Coach David Dir. Our training sessions are intense and high level.
